Primary Program

As children move from Kindergarten program to the Primary program we ensure they are proficient in the basic skills related to English, Math and Science.

English
The transition from Kindergarten to primary is most important for the children to grow confidently. We ensure smooth transition for the kids by familiarizing them with new vocabulary words and simple sentences in a structured approach. We believe that when Children learn to read in primary program, they can read to learn independently throughout their life. In English we focus on strengthening their reading, writing and communication skills.
Math
In primary, Children are equipped with all the basic skills required for secondary curriculum. Students learn practical applications of math concepts and how they are connected to the real world while doing variety of math projects.
Science
We focus on developing scientific understanding through building vocabulary, performing simple scientific tests, using scientific equipment, making observations, gathering data and using data to answer questions. This may be achieved through exploring scientific topics such as plants and animals, habitats and humans, looking at seasonal changes, nutrition, and describing using different materials.
Art & Craft
Art and crafts help young children explore and express their emotions, share how they relate to their family and friends, talk about their difficulties, their future dreams and aspirations, even if they have not yet developed a full vocabulary to do so. It also develops courage and a healthy self-esteem.

Most arts and crafts activities involve moving hands and fingers and so they help in developing fine motor skills in kids. Even simple activities like coloring with pencils or holding a paintbrush helps to strengthen the muscles and learn fine motor control.

Theater Art
The performing arts are intrinsically valuable for the beauty and fulfillment they bring, but researchers have observed that theater.

When kids portray characters onstage, they practice putting themselves in others’ shoes. Children who study theater tend to display higher levels of empathy later in life.

Participation in drama boosts kids’ feelings of belonging and keeps them motivated at school. It also bolsters their ability to read and understand complex texts.

Physical Education
At Dr. Abdul Kalam School, physical education is an integral part of our daily routine. Students actively participate in a variety of games such as Kho Kho, hoops, cricket, and more, encouraging teamwork, agility, and overall fitness. Each morning begins with energizing yoga sessions during assembly, helping students build flexibility, focus, and inner calm. Through structured physical activities, we aim to nurture both body and mind in a fun and balanced environment.
